The Holy Spirit is still speaking to me about games in comparison to life. Today it is the card game of spades, and it has been a minute since I played so I ask mercy if I get something wrong. If you are familiar with it, in this game the cards of the suit of spades can trump the cards of any other suit regardless of their face value. In other words, the lowly two of spades beats or trumps an ace or king of any other suit. It feels good when our two of spades beats their king of diamonds and we win the hand. It is a blindside or unexpected victory. The Christian life is similar in that once we are reborn, we are given another suit to put on. The scriptures call this new suit a robe of righteousness. It is not earned by our deeds or our righteous acts but is a gift given us by grace through our faith in Jesus, so that no one may boast about it. Because we now wear this righteous suit, we can trump any other that are of a different suit. Whether we are a lowly two or appear to be of a lower value than the card or person of another suit, we will still win. That is why it is important to know the bible says that we are the righteousness of God, in Christ Jesus. The enemy wants us to look only at our face value number and not to be aware of our suit because if we do not know the rules of the game as they are written, we may be afraid to engage and to trump his king. Thank you, God, for the gift of righteousness given to believers and for revealing it to us through your Word. Help me to keep my robe clean by walking in spirit and in truth. Strengthen me in faith to place your will above mine. In Jesus name. Amen.
