When I think about the scriptures revealing that God is light and Christ is the light of the world, I reflect on the properties of physical light. What we see as white light, whenever it passes through a prism, it is separated into the different colors that it consists of. That is known as the spectrum of light and is what produces visible rainbows in the sky. I then ponder on the robe of righteousness that we are given upon salvation. It is described as a robe of fine white linen that is woven of Christ's righteousness and not our own. So, as it passes through the prism of faith might it also be seen as a coat of many colors? This leads me to think about the fruits of the Spirit that we receive upon salvation that are sometimes taught as compared to natural fruits such as apples, oranges, bananas etc. for a visual. Do not these fruits of different colors come from the same source? The source is the light of the world and also in Revelations the light of Heaven, such as it needs no sun or moon for light because Christ Jesus is the light that illuminates. God is light! I don't know about you, but I don't think I can view the produce section at the grocery store in the same way again. I'll only see the various colored fruits as coming from the one pure Light that has passed through the prism to be revealed on earth. Thank you, God. You truly are the giver of all good gifts! Amen. Let there be light that so shines before men, that they see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.
