I know we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, but what does that mean and how does it look in my life. I think we can interpret it as we should love them to death, no matter what they do or say. I do not agree that the scriptures instruct us to this kind of interpretation. By this I mean that if we, out of fear, withhold the truth of God's word because we are afraid to offend them or hurt their feelings, then we are loving them to spiritual death. When we love others enough to speak the truth of God's word to and over their lives then we are loving them to life and to life more abundant. Surely we can say sorry if you are offended or hurt because I have been there and have walked in your shoes too. But also not sorry because I know the Truth that will set you free because it is that same Truth that has set me free. I also fought it as it sounded like foolishness to my ears at the time but once I submitted and admitted that God is always right and I should always trust and obey Him at his word; I found liberty and freedom from the guilt, shame and condemnation that the fallen world wants to keep us locked in. God literally did wash my conscience clean and gave me a new start, as if I was reborn, a new creature. It is for this reason that I pray, Father I give thanks for your love, truth and faithfulness that has never abandoned me. For revealing through your Word the eternal truth of my salvation in Christ, your Son and my Lord. Strengthen me to not be afraid to love people to life like Jesus does, as best as I am able. Amen.
