I am pondering on Ephesians 1:14 "Who is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." The Who is the Holy Spirit that lives in us as believers. When I think about earnest money for a big purchase like a mortgage or car, it is to lock in the agreement before it is actually signed. All the terms are agreeable to both parties and are waiting to be signed for whatever amount of time that is stipulated. The earnest money was paid to hold the contract open until the purchaser is ready to finalize it and sign the contract. Jesus has paid the earnest money for all of the world. Everyone has the option to finalize the deal and sign for salvation. All that is required is an amen to it. Amen literally means so be it. It is like our signature of agreement to the prayer or statement that is being made. Although the earnest money has been put down for anyone who will, some may decide not to agree and sign in the allotted time limit. In which case, the earnest money is forfeited and the contract is voided. I sincerely pray that anyone that reads this post has already signed the most important contract of all, the one for eternal life. If not, just call out to him. Something like, "Jesus, I want to accept your offer of salvation. Wash me clean of my past sins and help me to live a clean life going forward. I make You the Lord of my life. Amen." If it is the first time you have asked for it, congratulations! The Holy Spirit, who is the earnest of your inheritance, will now be with you as a helper, unto the praise of his glory.
