Permit me to ramble on the Fear of God for it is my strength. I envision it like lane guard bumpers at a bowling alley. In one gutter is the Love of God bumper that keeps the ball from falling into the gutter of eternal separation from God. His love full of mercy and grace given to us at the cross of salvation. Unfortunately, most new Christians bowl through life with only this one gutter guard in place. But we need the other gutter side protected by the Fear of God bumper also. It is what keeps us from falling into the gutter of seasonal or momentary separation from God by our sins or lawlessness. To be clear, this is not God leaving or abandoning us, it is us turning our backs to Him by our own free will. God promises to place His laws in our hearts and to write them in our minds at salvation. The Fear of God is not to be afraid of Him but is to fear being separated from Him, eternally or even for a moment. So, remember to stay on the narrow path of life guarded and guided between the Love of God and the Fear of God.
